8. Term Paper: Legal Constraints for International Journalists

Image
Legal Restraints on Journalist and Media around the world helps me to appreciate the freedom of speech here in America When it comes to international journalism issues, I felt somewhat uneducated on the topic. I didn't realize it's as widely practiced around the world or that the consequences of not adhering to legal restraints were so drastic. After taking a deeper look into this I've found several recent examples of how different countries are still censoring information that should be readily available to everyone, especially in the age of technology.   In America I think we take for granted the freedoms we have to access and share information quickly without fear of facing criminal charges, being locked up or even being killed. For this term paper I am sharing a few journalist from the around the world who have been under fire for their opinions and work reporting the news in their countries.  Morocco-  A journalist of 13 years, Hanane Bakour's faces trial for a ...

6. Reality TV

Reality TV: Harmless Fun or Toxic for Young People Reality TV has gained immense popularity especially over the past decade. I used to watch them all the time growing up but in my adult years looking back I think that many of the shows I used to love so much are very harmful and I wouldn’t recommend young people wasting time watching. In particular I’m going to reference, Americas Next Top Model, Bad Girls Club, and The Swan.  Americas Next Top Model was one of the shows I watched for many years, this was a competition reality show where young aspiring models competed for the title of  “Top Model”. I didn’t realize until later that this show was very unrealistic, they put a lot of the models under a lot of intense scrutiny, body shaming, and humiliation. There have since been models who have come out to talk about how scripted and toxic this show actually was. ANTM Winner Lisa Exposes the Show. This show “Bad Girls Club” I had NO BUSINESS watching at the age 15, but I d...

4. Term Paper: Movie Review

Image
When I found out that we would be visiting a movie theater this semester as an assignment I was both excited and stressed at the idea. I was excited because I literally haven't been to the movies since I left Texas in 2020 and probably has been a few years before then, since the popularity of home streaming services the theater has become a thing of the past. I was stressed because from what I remember the movies always seemed to cost an arm and a leg and of course there would be other people there, I admittedly can be a hermit who doesn't want to leave the comfort of my own home.  I opted for Cinemark theater in Texarkana, Tx, which is 45 minutes from Stamps. I did everything online and the process was super seamless. First I checked out the movie showtimes and chose an early time so that I could be able to go during the time my kids were at school.  I also watched a few trailers featured on the cinemark website to find a movie I found interesting. I ended up choosing ...

It’s really eye opening for me to realize how much I rely on my phone in different aspects of my life.
