4. Term Paper: Movie Review

When I found out that we would be visiting a movie theater this semester as an assignment I was both excited and stressed at the idea. I was excited because I literally haven't been to the movies since I left Texas in 2020 and probably has been a few years before then, since the popularity of home streaming services the theater has become a thing of the past. I was stressed because from what I remember the movies always seemed to cost an arm and a leg and of course there would be other people there, I admittedly can be a hermit who doesn't want to leave the comfort of my own home.

I opted for Cinemark theater in Texarkana, Tx, which is 45 minutes from Stamps. I did everything online and the process was super seamless. First I checked out the movie showtimes and chose an early time so that I could be able to go during the time my kids were at school.  I also watched a few trailers featured on the cinemark website to find a movie I found interesting. I ended up choosing 'Killers of the Flower Moon' because it had some great actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Online you also get to pick your seat and at the time of purchase the theater appeared to be completely empty and I chose a seat towards the middle of the theater.

I really liked the online interactivity on the cinemark website and it allowed me to purchase my ticket, it was $7.25 and a large popcorn and drink which cost almost $15 for both.

Even online the movie theater finds a way to try to up sale the customer into ordering more, this pop up says "Don't forget a drink" and gives you options to easily add this item to your purchase before you check out.

After I made my purchase I was sent an email and given this order confirmation number, the ticket also was added to my Apple Wallet which is convenient when it comes to remembering the location of the digital ticket. Other helpful information found on the conformation include the address and instructions on what to do when you get to the theater.

They have a point reward system that seems to give you one point per dollar spent on your movie tickets and snacks. For this particular movie outing I earned 24 points. This could be very helpful for people who go to the movies often and want to be rewarded for their ticket purchases.

Overall this movie going experience was very painless, I loved the ease of ordering everything online and the theater itself was very clean and quiet at the time that I went. I will definitely use the online ticket option every time I go to the theater from now on because it saves time and it makes the whole experience much better.

This is a great example of how businesses use technological advances to provide an easier and more enjoyable experience for their customers.
